Adobe updates Photoshop and Illustrator for the Retina display

Adobe updates Photoshop and Illustrator for the Retina display

You may remember during the keynote when the MacBook Pro with the Retina display was announced, Apple briefly mentioned the Adobe Photoshop application being optimized for the new display. But as it happens, the Retina version of the application wasn’t quite ready back then.

Now, six months after the MacBook Pro was announced, Adobe has finally updated the Photoshop CS6 and the Illustrator CS6 applications for the Retina display. The update should now be available to all the legit users and will take care of all the blurry fonts and icons.

BlackBerry Messenger for Android shown off on video

BlackBerry Messenger for Android shown off on video

BlackBerry had promised us a version of its popular BlackBerry Messenger or BBM service for Android and iOS devices quite a while ago now. While we are yet to see the final version release on either platform, someone managed to get their hands on a beta and has a uploaded a video for our viewing pleasure.

As you can see from the image above, BBM for Android looks nothing like any other Android app. Instead of adopting the look of the platform, BlackBerry has decided to instead port over the look of BB10, which is why the BBM for Android looks exactly the way it does on BB10, complete with the tabs on the bottom and screens on the side.

You can see all your chats in the main window. Swiping right brings a screen with options such as chats, contacts, groups, updates and invites. On the right is the screen with the settings and options to start a multiperson chat or send broadcast message among other things.

The app has integration with NFC so you can tap your phones together and send contacts over to another Android device with BBM. The app itself looks pretty good and even in the beta seems to be working quite well.

We still don’t have a precise idea as to when the app would hit the two platforms and the more BlackBerry delays the launch the less the people will be interested in it when it actually arrives. As it is, there are not a lot of people who are holding their breath for this.

Do you own a Flash capable Android gadget? In case you do, then you have an update waiting for you. The Adobe’s Flash Player is now upgraded to version 10.3 resolving some previous issues and bringing lots of fixes, security updates and a few optimizations.

There is support for all Android 2.2, 2.3 and 3.01-based devices.

Here is the official change log:

  • Enabled NEON optimizations for OMAP4 (Cortex A9) based devices.
  • Corrected an issue on the Samsung Galaxy S where H.264 video at resolutions of 720p and below was not displayed.
  • Android Apps using Browser Plug-ins like Flash Player in WebView no longer need to set android:hardwareAcceleration to True in their AndroidMainfest.xml for plug-in output to be rendered. This was previously an issue on Android 3.0+ only.
